- School Building Project - Education & Feeding Programme for AIDS Orphans On January 14th 2006, a group of 14 went to visit a school for children affected by Aids in Burkina Faso. For those of us who were in Africa for the first time, it was an especially moving experience to have 140 children singing to us as they welcomed us to their school. As we passed out the special gifts we had brought them, it was amazing just to see the joy on their faces and the thankfulness they shared and we all felt really humbled. Pastor Etienne who looks after the running of the school, had arranged a pastors conference for the time we were there, with a Gospel meeting every night and so the children had been given a few days off school. Every morning a team of us had meetings for the children and it was wonderful to see over 200 children each morning really enjoying the times of singing, bible stories and games. One of the highlights for us was meeting little Noufou, who you may remember was the little boy with no legs who we had arranged to have artificial limbs fitted for, in the capital city Ouagadougou, since our last visit to Burkina. For those who had been there before and remembered him crawling about on the ground, it was especially moving to now see him walking towards us. Coming from a Muslim family, Noufou now attends the church with his brother and sisters and his parents are so thankful for what has been done for their little boy. We really praise God for the change in his life. Every evening at the church, our team took part in the meeting singing a few songs, but it was more of a blessing for us just to watch the people worshipping God in their own unique way. It is wonderful to see that despite living in such poverty they are so thankful and joyous in their praise. For everyone of us, it really was a wonderful and life changing experience and one that most, if not all, would like to repeat. The school supports 150 students, three full time teachers, and two cooks. The building of this school, and the ongoing upkeep is made possible by the grace of God and your generous support.
