Belarus was the first country visited by Drop Inn Ministries in 1995. Since that first trip, Director Ronnie Dawson has visited 37 times and has brought regular Humanitarian Aid to hospitals and orphanages there, working through local churches.

A big part of our Humanitarian Aid Programme is our annual Shoebox Appeal - where we bring Christmas presents to children in hospitals and orphanages as well as from very poor families.

Through contact with the hospitals we were told that children from Chernobyl areas of Belarus could have their health greatly benefitted by a holiday outside the country; breathing fresh air and eating uncontaminated food, even adding years to their life expectancy. So in 1996, we began our Chernobyl Children's Holiday Programme bringing children to Northern Ireland for a 3 week holdiday. This year we had a wonderful time with the 34 children and leaders who came and stayed with Host Families in County Armagh.

The following year, we started our Pastors Support Programme and we are now supporting 32 Pastors from all over Belarus.

Our lifeline Programme began as a result of meeting and hearing about families who were living in situations of desperate need. We now have 11 families who are regularly supported by families and individuals from Northern Ireland.

In the year 2000, a group of young people together with Ronnie went to a River Island outside the city of Minsk to take part in a Youth Camp organised by some of the churches. This proved to be such a success that it became part of our yearly programme which has now extended to doing joined Youth Camps in Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia and Albania. In August 2005 we joined 200 young people from all over Belarus at the River Neman and then took part in a Youth Conference at the largest church in Belarus, where at least 2000 young people were together for a 2 day conference.
